Honest Doll Talks.

Imogen’s Christmas present sit came in the mail; it’s a baby doll made in Germany that has the weight and size of a newborn. (She’s constantly asking for a newborn baby, and I just don’t have it in me to have another baby so that my three year old can take care of it.)

I opened it up, and as I was looking at it, I thought, “Hmm, that’s strange. I didn’t realize the doll would have such a dark skin tone.” So sue me, that’s what I thought. And then I held it next to my own skin. IT IS THE EXACT SAME COLOUR AS ME! Ps - I am definitely caucasian.

I’ve always considered myself to be colour blind. But, according to this little incident I’m not. And apparently the doll making companies have been selling a very white-washed doll lie for a long time. I looked at some of her other dolls for comparison and they are whiter than my most whitey-white, have to use spf 500 friends. I realize people have been fighting against waspy dolls for a long time, but until now I had no idea just how alabaster dolls actually are. It’s weird. And wrong. And something I was completely used to.

Sorry for coming to the doll game so late.
